Dear Members and Supporters of the PRME Chapter UK and Ireland,

Call for Steering Committee Members PRME Chapter UK & Ireland (five positions, three-year term of office).

The Steering Committee of PRME Chapter UK and Ireland seek nominations to fill five vacancies on our Steering Committee. Steering Committee members support the design and delivery of PRME-related activities, supporting our seven Local Networks, our annual competitions, conference and doctoral colloquium, and other global (e.g. i5) and local PRME initiatives. The Chapter is thriving as evidenced in our 10th Anniversary Report and 2024 Annual Conference Report, and an elected Chapter Steering Committee binds this purposeful activity being essential to understanding the needs and harnessing the energies of our wider membership.

Vacancies arise when existing members step down from the Steering Committee and/or reach the end of their first or second term of office. As permitted in our governance rules, members who complete a first term may choose to stand for a second final term in open competition with new nominees. Five committee membership positions expire in 2025.  For this call, we are still keen to recruit Steering Committee members with expertise in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and encourage previous applicants to re-apply. As our Chapter Treasurer is also coming to the end of two terms, we also ask anyone who might like to take this post-holder role once elected, to indicate this on the application form.

The Steering Committee encourage candidacies from individuals with a mix of skills and experience from different geographic regions and diverse backgrounds. To find out more or to submit a self-nomination form (download your own copy from this link) please email the Chapter Administrator Jackie Hicken at PRME@bcu.ac.uk by 17.00 GMT on Friday 2 May. Voting forms will be sent out shortly after, and voting will close on 23 May. Winning candidates will be notified shortly after.

Professor Natascha Radclyffe-Thomas EdD FRSA

Chair, on behalf of the PRME Chapter UK and Ireland Steering Committee

For full details of the election process, please see the Chapter’s updated Governance document. For those interested in nominating themselves, please note:

  1. At the time of nomination, nominees must be employed at institutions that are paid-up Communicating Signatories to PRME at the global level and paid-up UK & Ireland Chapter Voting Members. (If you are unsure about your eligibility, check your School's membership status at a global level here and at UK & Ireland level here).

  2. Elections are conducted on the basis of one vote per institution (which must hold current PRME UK and Ireland membership). Votes should be cast by the institution’s nominated representative (typically the PRME Lead), or in their absence, another appropriate member of staff (e.g., the Dean, Deputy Dean, Head of School, Director of Accreditation, etc.) using an institutional email address. Votes will only be accepted if submitted by a recognised and named representative matched to Chapter records. Current membership and lead contact details can be checked by contacting PRME@bcu.ac.uk. Should two or more people from an eligible institution vote in error, we shall approach the institution in question to confirm whose votes should be counted.

  3. The information contained on the voting form will be confidential and only known to administrative staff who are not candidates in this election.

  4. Steering Committee members undertake to abide by the PRME UK & Ireland Steering Committee Code of Conduct and to commit to make a regular time commitment over their term, being accountable for agreed projects.

  5. As evidence of expertise and experience, nominees are expected to demonstrate a track record of prior involvement in Chapter working groups, local networks or projects over at least 12 months. Where this is not possible, a significant RME-related track record, at least in part beyond the home institution, should be demonstrated.
