We're delighted to announce the appointment of Sophie Scott from Ulster University Business School as the new PRME Regional Leader for Europe. This is a fantastic opportunity to further strengthen the student-led initiatives within the PRME community in our region.  Sophie’s appointment by PRME Global represents one of 18 regional leaders around the world.

Recognising the power of over 3 million students across its Signatory Members, PRME established the PRME Students community (formerly known as PRME Global Students or PGS) as a global platform to channel this collective energy toward meaningful change.

Designed to empower the next generation of responsible leaders, PRME Students advances PRME’s mission to transform management education by fostering creative collaboration, collective reflection, and joyful exchange among student organisations. This vibrant community strengthens local and global connections across the university ecosystem, enabling students to drive sustainable development and amplify collective impact for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Today, PRME Students has more than 500 student organisations worldwide in its network.

Our PRME UK & Ireland Chapter Chair Professor Natascha Radclyffe-Thomas said;

On behalf of the UK and Ireland Steering Committee I would like to offer Sophie the deepest congratulations on her appointment. Sophie's achievement recognises her personal commitment and dedication to promoting PRME across Europe and we wish her every success in this role, as well as look forward to the engagement with the Chapter it will surely bring.

Sophie's appointment comes at a time when student voices are more important than ever. Sophie’s work, and that of the students she has collaborated with, demonstrates a clear commitment to putting student views at the forefront of the responsible management education agenda.

This dedication was highlighted in a joint contribution to the PRME 2025 conference paper presented at Queens University Belfast.  The paper, "PRME Impact for Real: Student Views on Sustainable and Responsible Education – Three Business Schools; Past, Present and Future," was a collaborative effort between Sophie and her PRME colleagues.

Our PRME UK & Ireland Vice Chair Laura Steele said;

"As Vice-Chair of the Chapter and Co-Chair of the 2025 PRME Chapter UK & Ireland Conference – where Sophie delivered an excellent paper on 'PRME Impact for Real' alongside faculty and fellow students – I am delighted about her appointment. I have no doubt that she will be a fantastic advocate for PRME and deliver 'real impact' in the UK, Ireland, and beyond".

This collective work exemplifies the spirit of collaboration that PRME UK & Ireland aims to foster. By focusing on the direct experiences and perspectives of students, we can ensure that our educational frameworks are truly effective in preparing future leaders.

On joining PRME Students, Sophie Scott said;

My perspective of education was transformed through a sustainability module, which opened my eyes to the challenges we are currently facing and our ability as changemakers to address these. It showed me that business education that is fully grounded in hard theory and hasn't yet adapted to the current challenges that we, as a world, are facing is not enough to equip business students to become changemakers to drive progress in sustainable development.
I look forward to contributing to PRME's mission both within Ulster University and globally by putting the student voice at the forefront and helping others rethink business education as a force for sustainable impact.

Ulster University Business School PRME Lead Marc Duffy said;

We are delighted that Sophie saw the call for PRME regional leaders and took the initiative to apply. Sophie has been an integral member of the Ulster University Business School community for several years, taking on leadership roles in our active societies and collaborating with colleagues from the Business School and around the UK during our annual PRME conferences. We know she will be an excellent asset to the PRME team and look forward to getting started.

Programmes Empowering Students

The PRME Students initiative offers several programmes that Sophie will be instrumental in promoting. These include the PRME Students Mentorship Programme and the PRME Students Ambassador Programme.

  • PRME Students Mentorship Programme: This six-month programme connects students with experienced professionals in sustainability fields. It provides tailored guidance on careers in sustainability, helps students identify necessary skills, and supports professional development. It's a key way for students to gain clarity on their career direction and build a strong professional network.

  • PRME Students Ambassador Programme: This 10-week training deepens students' understanding of the UN Global Compact and PRME's role in advancing sustainability. Through expert-led workshops and collaborative projects, participants develop tangible solutions to real-world challenges, enhancing their teamwork, leadership, and presentation skills.

We are excited to see the impact Sophie will have in her new role and look forward to the continued growth of the student-led movement in Europe.
