We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Petros Vourvachis as the new Treasurer of the PRME UK & Ireland Chapter Steering Committee. Dr Vourvachis brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the role, and we are excited to have him join our team.

Dr Petros Vourvachis is a Senior Lecturer in Financial Accounting and PRME Lead at Loughborough Business School. With over two decades of engagement in responsible management education and research, Dr Vourvachis has a particular focus on sustainability reporting and the effectiveness of regulatory initiatives addressing issues such as modern slavery and carbon emissions. His leadership in producing Loughborough’s latest SIP reports, one of which received an Honourable Mention for Excellence at the 2023 PRME Global Forum, highlights his commitment to excellence and sustainability. Additionally, Dr Vourvachis is representing Loughborough in PRME’s Champions programme for the 2024–25 cycle, co-leading a project on sustainability reporting by business schools with Laura Steele from Queen’s Business School.

Dr Vourvachis shared his enthusiasm for his new role, stating

It has been a great pleasure and honour to be elected to the PRME UK & Ireland Chapter Steering Committee and to take on the role of Treasurer. I feel immensely privileged to join such a dedicated group of colleagues and I look forward to contributing to the work of the Chapter, supporting colleagues across our network and helping to strengthen our collective impact

We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Nishat Azmat (pictured right), our outgoing Treasurer, for her exceptional service and dedication. Nishat Azmat is a qualified accountant who has worked in both industry and private practice before her tenure as a lecturer of financial accounting at Birmingham University Business School. She has held various leadership roles within the School over the past decade and has been actively involved in the voluntary sector, serving as a trustee of a women’s charity for over seven years and currently as Vice Chair of the Fiorretti Trust.

Nishat’s contributions to the PRME UK & Ireland Chapter have been invaluable, and we are grateful for her commitment and hard work. As we transition to new leadership, we are confident that Dr Vourvachis and Nishat will work closely together to ensure a smooth handover and continued success for our Chapter.

Please join us in welcoming Dr Petros Vourvachis to his new role and in thanking Nishat Azmat for her outstanding service.
