Following the call for Steering Committee Members, and the resulting election, we are delighted to confirm that the results of the election were confirmed at our most recent PRME UK & Ireland Annual Doctoral Colloquium and Conference in Belfast.
PRME UK & Ireland chapter chair, Professor Natascha Radclyffe-Thomas, shared her thanks to all those who submitted applications and took part in the voting process:
"We thank everyone who took the time to prepare an application to join the PRME UK & Ireland Steering Committee, we received a large number of applications which is testament to the commitment and good work colleagues are engaged in in relation to RME. We thank those SC members who have recently left us, and welcome both returning and new SC members for what promises to be another excellent and engaged era of the UK & Ireland Chapter."
We asked our newly appointed committee members to tell them a little bit about themselves and why they are excited to join. Read all about their responses below:
Sarah Williams: Senior Lecturer in HRM at Liverpool John Moores University.
I lead the MA in Strategic People Management and Practice at Liverpool John Moores University and teach across undergraduate, postgraduate, and apprenticeship routes. My work sits at the intersection of equity, ethics, and sustainability, not as neat themes, but as live, messy tensions we have to confront if we're serious about changing the future of work.
In the classroom, I use creative methods to invite students into critical, joyful resistance. I want them to ask better questions, imagine different possibilities, and rethink what HR is even for.
As co-lead of the PRME North-West and North Wales Local Network, and through my roles as Athena Swan Lead and Faculty EDI Committee member, I'm passionate about building spaces where we can create genuine community, share practice openly, amplify diverse voices, and challenge the norms and practices that need challenging.
I'm joining the Steering Committee to keep holding that space, with care, with creativity, and with just the right amount of disruption. I'm looking forward to the joy of working with people who share these values - each of us bringing our knowledge, experience and passion to something that matters.
Dr Petros Vourvachis: Senior Lecturer in Financial Accounting, Loughborough University.
Dr Petros Vourvachis is a Senior Lecturer in Financial Accounting and PRME Lead at Loughborough Business School. He has been engaged in responsible management education and research for over two decades, with a particular focus on sustainability reporting and the effectiveness of regulatory initiatives addressing issues of wider concern, such as modern slavery and carbon emissions. Petros has been leading on the production of Loughborough’s latest SIP reports, one of which received an Honourable Mention for Excellence at the 2023 PRME Global Forum. He is also representing Loughborough in PRME’s Champions programme for the 2024–25 cycle, where he is co-leading (with Laura Steele, Queen’s Business School) a project on sustainability reporting by business schools.
Of joining the committee, Petros shared 'I’m delighted to join the PRME UK & Ireland Steering Committee and contribute to advancing responsible management education across the network. I’m particularly looking forward to working with colleagues on initiatives related to transparency, EDI, and governance, and am also happy to support other Chapter priorities where my skills and background may be helpful. Having benefited greatly from past collaborations through PRME Champions and the Chapter, I’m excited to help strengthen our collective impact.'
Dr Constantine Manolchev: Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Futures, University of Exeter
A passionate advocate for responsible management education, Constantine is the Sustainability Champion and PRME Lead for the University of Exeter Business School, a local network co-lead for UN PRME Southwest and is part of Leap! UN PRME Working Group on the Sustainability Mindset. His research and education practice explores the nexus between pedagogy, ethical systems, and sustainable regional transition. Constantine has presented two reports to Government on sustainable textiles, while his work on ethical systems has been featured on NYC’s Last Show podcast. Constantine is the regional education lead for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, where he chairs the ethical business working group.
Constantine is excited to contribute to PRME leadership in the context of responsible use of AI, which includes both ethical use in assessment and collaboration with business leaders in this space.
Alongside our new joiners, we are very pleased to announce that we have had two re-appointments to the committee.
Dr Laura Steele: Reader (Education), Queen's University Belfast.
Laura is the current vice-chair of the UK & Ireland chapter and lead the organisation of the fully subscribed PRME UK & Ireland 2025 Doctoral Colloquium and Annual Conference in Queen's University, Belfast.
Of her re-appointment, Laura shared "I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve the PRME Chapter UK & Ireland community for a further three years. Over this period, my aim is to support the continued development of the Chapter, particularly in relation to providing support for SIP reporting, and - alongside the Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer - ensuring good governance, open communication, and a culture of inclusivity".
Dr Mohamed Sauedy, University of Bedfordshire.
Of his re-appointment, Mohamed shared the following: "I am absolutely thrilled and deeply honored to be re-elected to the UKI PRME steering committee for a second term. My passion for embedding sustainability and responsible management education within higher education has only grown stronger, and I am incredibly excited to continue contributing to this vital mission alongside such a dedicated group of colleagues.
This re-election feels particularly significant as it allows me to further integrate and leverage the momentum of my International Sustainability Excellence Training (SET) with AI. This international initiative is designed to equip the next generation of leaders with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills. Furthermore, my unwavering commitment to support PRME Global Student activities (PGS) across Europe, Africa, and Eurasia remains a core driver of my enthusiasm. Witnessing the energy, creativity, and dedication of students in these regions as they champion responsible management principles is truly inspiring. I believe that empowering student voices and facilitating their engagement with the PRME agenda is paramount for cultivating a truly sustainable future.
The opportunity to build upon the progress we've made in the previous term, to deepen our collective impact, and to continue fostering a vibrant and forward-thinking PRME community in the UK and Ireland is something I genuinely look forward to. Thank you for entrusting me with this responsibility once again."
