PRME UKI Chapter Webinar: Monday 14th June at 3pm - Re-framing “the learner” in the climate crisis

Re-framing “the learner” in the climate crisis.

Setting the scene for the PRME Regional Chapter UK and Ireland 7th Annual Conference.

As a lead-up to the 2021 PRME Regional Chapter conference hosted by the University of Lincoln, we invite you to participate in this preparatory workshop. The results of this workshop will feed directly into the conference agenda on this year’s theme of “Crises and the Re-Thinking of Responsibility: Advancing pedagogy; challenges and opportunities.”

Our Guest is Keri Facer, Professor of Educational and Social Futures, University of Bristol, School of Education and recently Zennström Professor of Climate Change Leadership at Uppsala University. She is the author of the Higher Education Policy Institute Debate Paper 24 (2020) “Beyond business as usual: Higher education in the era of climate change”.

Her presentation will consider how universities need to take a leadership role in putting the world on a more sustainable footing and how this might be reflected in framing what we mean by ‘the learner’ – an often taken-for-granted construction which has considerable influence on what we teach and how we teach it. Her presentation will be followed by an open Q/A session with the audience. The conclusions from this workshop will inform further debate in the pedagogy theme of the full conference.

The workshop is free of charge. Participants already registered with the PRME conference will have priority in the event of high demand but should also register separately for this workshop (see below).

Date and time: Monday June 14th 15:00 – 16:30 (UK time)

Location: Zoom

Details will be sent to registered participants.
