PRME UK and Ireland Chapter is delighted to congratulate Dr David Steingard on his appointment as the new Head of the UN Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME). This marks an exciting moment for the global PRME community and a significant opportunity to deepen our shared commitment to advancing responsible management education across the UK and Ireland.

As part of the UN Global Compact, PRME sits at the heart of a global movement shaping the future of business and management education. Dr Steingard’s appointment brings renewed energy to that mission at a time when responsible leadership, sustainability, and ethics have never been more urgently required.

A leader steeped in PRME values

Dr Steingard is widely recognised for his long-standing leadership within the global PRME network. Across his career, he has demonstrated a sustained commitment to embedding responsible management education in business schools and strengthening the connections between academic practice, industry engagement and societal impact.

For more than twenty-five years at Saint Joseph’s University, he contributed to the Leadership, Ethics and Organisational Sustainability programme, while also guiding the highly regarded SDG Dashboard initiative at the Haub School of Business. His leadership has helped universities worldwide measure and communicate their impact on the Sustainable Development Goals, a priority strongly shared by institutions across the UK and Ireland Chapter.

Dr Steingard also plays an active role within the Higher Education Sustainability Initiative (UN HESI), where he leads the AI and Research & Development Implementation Team. His work in this space reflects a forward-looking vision for higher education, including the exploration of how artificial intelligence can help institutions understand and improve their social and environmental contributions.

Advancing ethical leadership, sustainability and impact

Dr Steingard’s teaching and research have consistently championed ethical leadership, social justice and sustainability. His recent scholarship has been influential in exploring how AI can be applied to assess institutional impact, strengthen research relevance and enhance strategic decision-making. These insights have been shared across a range of respected publications, helping to reinforce the role of responsible management education as a driver of positive societal change.

For PRME UK and Ireland, this aligns strongly with our Chapter’s aims of empowering educators and institutions to co-create knowledge, innovate pedagogies and develop partnerships that contribute meaningfully to the SDGs across our region.

A shared vision for the next chapter of PRME

As Head of PRME, Dr Steingard will guide the initiative’s global strategy, working closely with the PRME Secretariat, Regional Chapters, Signatory Institutions and partners across the UN Global Compact. His appointment comes at a pivotal moment for the PRME community, as we collectively work to strengthen collaboration, deepen impact and enhance the visibility of responsible management education around the world.

Reflecting on his new role, Dr Steingard recently noted:

“PRME represents a powerful global community committed to reimagining the role of management education in service of people, planet, and prosperity. I am honoured to step into this role. I look forward to strengthening collaboration across the PRME ecosystem to deepen impact as a United Nations supported initiative.”

His emphasis on collaboration and community resonates deeply with our Chapter’s ethos. As the PRME UK and Ireland network continues to grow, innovate and lead across teaching, research and practice, we warmly welcome this new phase under Dr Steingard’s leadership.

Congratulations from PRME UK and Ireland

On behalf of the PRME UK and Ireland Chapter, we extend our sincere congratulations to Dr David Steingard. We look forward to continued collaboration, shared ambition and collective action as we advance responsible management education across our region and contribute to the global PRME movement.
