In celebration of our Local network groups, we are sharing a Spotlight Series looking back at some of the excellent opportunities that they have provided for members this year. First up is our London and South East Network! To learn more about our networks, including who your local network coordinators are, click here!

The mission of the London and South East network.

The PRME London and South East network has continued to create spaces for colleagues, educators, and practitioners to exchange ideas on responsible management education through a varied programme of online and in person events. These gatherings have reflected the network’s wider mission to advance sustainability, collaboration, and innovation in teaching and learning.

What they have delivered this year so far.

In October, the network held an online meeting featuring Dr Yasmin Kulasi and Dr Mazia Yassim from the University of Westminster. Their session explored the role of virtual reality in education for the Sustainable Development Goals, highlighting how immersive technologies can support critical thinking, empathy, and responsible decision making in management education.

In November, David Anderson from the University of Lincoln presented on playful learning games and their potential to support sustainability education across higher education. The session introduced a range of interactive card games designed to make global challenges more accessible, engaging, and memorable for students.

The January online meeting featured Alex Pearson MBE from the University of Sussex Business School, who introduced Climate Fresk, a three hour interactive card game based on IPCC findings. The session showed how climate education can be embedded into the curriculum through active, student led learning that makes sustainability concepts more accessible and meaningful.

In February, members met in person at Westminster University for Immersive Futures: VR, Global Goals and Responsible Management Education. The event brought together educators and PRME leads to explore how artificial intelligence and immersive virtual reality can support values led, sustainability focused business education, with contributions from Dr Mazia Yassim, Dr Yasmin Kulasi, Dr Lucy Gill Simmen, and Dr Laura Steele.

The March online meeting focused on recent initiatives and course developments related to Carbon Literacy Training, Circular Economy, and Digital Collage. Colleagues from the University of Sussex, Ravensbourne University, and Richmond University shared reflections on integrating these themes into teaching and curriculum development.

What's up next!

Looking ahead, the May in person event at King’s Business School will focus on embedding the Principles for Responsible Management Education within curriculum design, assessment, and accreditation. This will be led by Professor Natascha Radclyffe Thomas. The workshop will offer participants a practical opportunity to explore how responsible management education can be meaningfully embedded and evidenced within academic practice.

A massive thank you to Inma Ramos and Alison Bailey for their dedication to delivery an exciting calendar of events for the London and South East Network each year!
