Introducing a timely new seminar exploring contemporary research into the use of Employee Voice systems to improve working conditions. The presenters will also discuss their approach towards successfully gaining research funding for social sustainability projects.

2pm Introduction and Working Conditions and Employee Voice
Nadia Kougiannou is Professor of Work and Employment Relations at Nottingham Business School. Nadia' s presentation will explore working conditions in the gig economy and the impact of technology app-work on employee voice, working conditions and the employment relationship.
2.40pm Implementing Worker Voice in the Fashion Business
Professor Helen Goworek from Durham University and Erica Charles from Glasgow Caledonian University (London) will discuss their involvement in Leverhulme-funded research on the implementation of worker voice for employees in clothing manufacture in the UK. Erica will also present her award-winning film from the Cannes Short Film Festival 2025 ‘The Stories We Wear: Garment Worker Perspective’, available here: ERICA CHARLES
