In time for the start of the 2025-2026 academic year, a team of award-winning academics have launched a new "SDG Customised Card Games".

In 2023-2024, David Anderson and Dr Davina Bird of Lincoln International Business School at the University of Lincoln were awarded funding as part of the PRME Chapter UK & Ireland Innovative Pedagogy Competition

Drawing upon a pilot project within their institution, the project involved customising card-based games to create sustainable and reusable pedagogical tools. The focus was responsible leadership, and the project embraced the PRME Impactful Five (i5) characteristics, creating fun and engaging ways for students to learn about the curriculum, whilst also enabling them to evaluate their existing knowledge and any gaps. An outcome of the project was to produce "educational packs" which include free print & play copies of the games for group use in seminars, and teaching support resources (how to play the game, structuring sessions and discussion questions). Professionally printed copies of the games will also be available in the coming months.

David Anderson said of the resource, "We’ve designed these games to be used in any subject, at any level so they can be used in a diverse range of teaching situations. They provide a fun way to engage students in discussions of sustainability and responsibility no matter what subject you are teaching".

Dr Davina Bird added, "While we are continually discovering new ways to integrate these resources into our teaching and learning, initial survey results showed 91.3% positive engagement, with one student specifically noting that the games were a ‘useful and interactive way to discuss sustainability, enabling us to build upon each other’s knowledge’

Dr Claire May (University of Lincoln), who, along with Dr Laura Steele (Queen's University Belfast), Co-Leads the Competition added, “We are so pleased to have another very valuable output from the PRME Chapter UK & Ireland Innovative Pedagogy Competition. The resources from David and Davina are easy to use and engaging. They are sure to be useful across the PRME community in a variety of contexts.”
