Birmingham City University announced as New PRME Chapter UK and Ireland Secretariat Host

We are delighted to announce that as of 2nd October 2023 our Secretariat is being hosted by Birmingham City Business School (BCBS). After an exhaustive selection process involving applicants from across our membership, we believe that BCBS is exceptionally qualified to take on this essential role in Chapter life. Without the continuity of a strong and reliable Secretariat function, our effectiveness and impact are much reduced, and we are very pleased that BCBS have shown themselves willing and able to take on the role. They take on a responsibility previously held with great success by the University of Winchester and latterly by Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU).

In welcoming this outcome, Chapter Chair, Dr Jonathan Louw, thanked "all applicants, the successful team at BCBS led by Professor Maharaj Vijay Reddy, and, in particular, our superb outgoing Administrator at GCU, Bryan Hall". In further comments, he noted "That the Chapter is able to afford a part-time Secretariat is only possible because of the moral support and local fees paid by our members; all of whom are signatories to PRME in the UK and Ireland. It is heartening to know, in this milestone 10th Anniversary Year of the Chapter, that we can rely on our members in this way. I am confident that BCBS are well-positioned to help the Chapter make great progress as we head into our second decade."

The Deputy Dean of Birmingham City University's Business Law and Social Science faculty, Professor Deborah Lock, has also expressed her "delight that that BCBS has become the host for the PRME Chapter secretariat", noting that . "BCBS is committed to integrating sustainability principles into the management curriculum. By hosting the secretariat, BCBS will actively engage with PRME member institutions in their work fostering sustainability- focused responsible management education for a more equitable world."

In our next newsletter we shall introduce our new Administrator, Jackie Hicken, and confirm all contact details. In the meantime, our new chapter email address can be noted as PRME@bcu.ac.uk
