We are pleased to announce two upcoming events that delve into the integration of AI in education and the exploration of sustainable finance. These events aim to foster a community of practice that bridges industry and academia, promoting equitable and sustainable practices.

Event 1: AI for Sustainable and Ethical Education: Reimagining Pedagogy and Assessment

ree

In an era where technology is rapidly transforming the educational landscape, the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI), compassionate assessment, and playful pedagogies offers a promising avenue for reimagining management education. The upcoming workshop, "AI for Sustainable and Ethical Education: Reimagining Pedagogy and Assessment," aims to delve into these intersections, fostering a community of practice that bridges industry and academia.

Scheduled for 29 October 2025, from 10am to 12pm, this two-hour session will provide a platform for knowledge sharing and peer learning. The focus will be on leveraging AI to create more equitable and sustainable learning environments. By integrating AI tools into pedagogic practices, the workshop will explore how these technologies can enhance Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) outcomes through personalized, relationship-based learning, while maintaining the quality of education provision.

Workshop Schedule

Part 1: Playful Pedagogies

The workshop will kick off with a welcome and introduction by Dr Laura Steele, Director of Ethics, Responsibility, Sustainability & PRME Lead for Queen's Business School, UK.

This will be followed by a poll on AI attitudes and adoption in higher education.

Industry Perspectives: Holly Toner, Data and AI Ethics Tech Lead at Kainos, will share insights from the industry.

Academic Presentation: Dr Judith Wylie, Senior Lecturer at Ulster University Business School, will present her academic perspective.

Participants will then engage in a breakout session, followed by a plenary discussion. A comfort break will provide a brief respite before the second part of the workshop.

Part 2: Compassionate Assessment

The second part will feature industry perspectives from Lizbeth Chandler, Agentic AI Lead at Accenture, and an academic presentation by Dr Constantine Manolchev, Sustainability Lead and PRME Champion at the University of Exeter Business School.

Following another breakout session, participants will report back to the plenary, culminating in a close and call to action.

Event 2: Capital and Nature: (Still) An Oxymoron?

ree

The concept of sustainable finance often raises the question: Is it an oxymoron? With increased regulation, stakeholder pressure, and shifting public perceptions, many companies are now integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into their business models. This joint PRME South Wales and Southwest and Island of Ireland online event seeks to explore whether financial considerations are being decentred or remain as crucial as ever.

Scheduled for 21 November 2025, from 2pm to 3pm, the event will feature three provocative speaker presentations, followed by a plenary discussion.

Event Schedule

Welcome & Introduction: Dr Constantine Manolchev, Sustainability Lead and PRME Champion at the University of Exeter Business School, will set the stage for the discussions.

Part 1: Capital and Nature

Sustainability Reporting for Biodiversity: Ellen Jordan, PhD Candidate at Limerick University, will discuss the importance of biodiversity in sustainability reporting.

Natural Gas as a Transition Fuel in Developing Economies: Dana Marat, MSc Finance (in progress) at the University of Cambridge and former Strategic Change Specialist at J.P. Morgan, will explore the role of natural gas in developing economies.

Balancing Fossil Fuel Transition with Biodiversity Preservation: Dr Simon Ashby, Senior Lecturer in Finance at the University of Exeter and Associate Professor of Financial Services at Vlerick Business School, Belgium, will address the challenges of balancing fossil fuel transition with biodiversity preservation.

The event will conclude with a plenary discussion, providing an opportunity for participants to engage with the speakers and each other.
